Vintage Fashion for the Modern Girl
November 9, 2013
Indie Cult Vintage has been one of my go to vintage shops for a while now. An Ebay store run with impecable curation by Kelly Weaver since 2001, it specializies in vintage from the 60s-80s. I can always find something that I adore from this shop whether it be a lace crochet Maxi Dress, a Navajo printed wrap sweater, or a distressed leather bag.
Weaver’s career took a surprising turn a few years ago when the international tax law attorney started spending her weekends selling on eBay vintage clothes from her huge collection.
“I was really shocked at how well it went and how lucrative it was,” said Weaver, 35.
So, after her legal work decreased, Weaver turned her hobby into her main source of income. Now she works 20 to 25 hours a week on her eBay store, compared with the 60- to 70-hour weeks that weren’t unusual as a lawyer.
Indiecultvintage successfully distinguishes itself as an eBay story by displaying clothes on live models rather than on hangers or laid flat. Weaver adds her own touches to some of the garments by cropping, re-hemming and sewing on new buttons or other decorations.
Here are some hightlights!
